Inspiration

We've always thought that pursuing online MOOC courses would help us progress; yet, since it's pre-recorded with less engagement, we aren't determined to complete it, even though the course is excellent! And if we're stranded in the middle with doubts, we have to submit it on the discussion forum and probably have to wait one day for a response! All of these circumstances prompt us to lose motivation to finish the course, and it is sometimes abandoned totally. This is a significant handicap because taking a course strengthens our expertise, and it is also one method of keeping oneself active. Keeping oneself busy may be pretty beneficial to one's mental health. We'd always fancied creating an innovative, dynamic website, and the Pitt Challenge gave us a chance. As a result, we developed "Meet and Learn," a website chock-full of one-of-a-kind end-to-end features

What it does

The website renders free Coursera courses and includes the following unparalleled features:- 1. Interactive learning group for discussions and also self-improvement events.

  1. Voice Channel Learning Group
  2. If there were any doubts, immediately connect to mentors.
  3. Receiving rewards as a result of the student's consistent perseverance in finishing the course.
  4. Acquiring Certification.
  5. After being certified, assist other students in resolving problems via voice channels and group discussions and encourage and motivate other students.

How we built it

We used Figma to create a simple wireframe of the website. We built our website using the "FERN" Stack. We collaborated via GitHub.

Challenges we ran into

Taking on this project was challenging since we only had two people on our team, both of whom were beginners, and none of us had any expertise with React, Node, or Firebase. One of the most challenging obstacles was working on a single project with other people. We were, nevertheless, able to split and conquer. We gathered on Google Meet to discuss any issues that arose and share our opinions and random ideas. We encountered various challenges when developing and pushing code to repositories, which we resolved with the assistance of each other and mentors.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are delighted that we could create a full-stack app with the majority of the functionality we hoped to achieve, and we had a fantastic time attempting to solve the problems we encountered!

What we learned

Because none of the team members was familiar with React, Firebase, or Javascript, we learned a lot about these technologies by diving right into constructing something like "Meet and Learn." We also learned the necessity of time management, how to operate in a fast-paced setting, and how to collaborate with other people's ideas and ideas because we were from various areas and the hackathon was virtual.

What's next for Meet and Learn

Build an app apart from the website. Building partnerships with other organisations and bringing in more courses. Bringing in more mentors.
