Inspiration
Volunteer masjid board members work very hard to run the masjid, this means they have to manage funding, governance, documents, and deadlines. For most volunteers this is a lot. That's why we built Meem. Meem helps volunteers manage all this and connect with other masjids as a cherry on top.
What it does
In simple terms Meem: Finds grants based on the masjid, drafts application for grants, allows you to reach out to another masjid and share opportunities, upload documents, and organize and plan events.
How we built it
We phoned and talked to some masjid board members. We also did some research about similar platforms and what people love and don't about them. We fleshed our idea out with Chatgpt and used Replit and Lovable to build the actual platform.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into several challenges, like running out of replit and lovable credits, not knowing how to differentiate from similar platforms, and finding verified grants.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our GitHub repository. Getting actual interest and need from people. A really well done UI. A great way to connect to our audience through our pitch.
What we learned
Research is one of the most important steps, before you build look at your competitors, ask people, find a real concrete why. Another thing we learned is its important to find the flaws in your idea is that you can fix them, and put out your best work.
