Inspiration

The Medicare/Medicaid dual-eligible population. They tend to be concerned about how much money they’re spending, and having important information available at their fingertips.

What it does

Medyear is a healthcare hub for users to organize and control their health data in a secure way. One of the features of the application is the ability to connect with multiple FHIR servers and grab user specific data and display it in a user friendly format. With respect to Explanation of Benefits data, Medyear can ingest the data from Medicare and populate the patient’s health record. We translate codes such as SNOMED, ICD9, and LOINC into plain English descriptions. Additionally, users can chat about anything in their medical record with their doctor, and attach relevant claims data.

How we built it

It was lovingly built using C#, SWIFT, and RESTful API's.

Challenges we ran into

We were unable to complete all aspects of the demo due to time running out. If we had a few more hours, we could show a full range of features and data connectivity.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are FHIR-enabled. Users can now connect to many different FHIR servers where their data resides.

What we learned

FHIR is the future.

What's next for Medyear/MiHIN

Integration with FHIR-enabled partners such as the Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN.org) in order to access and manage consumer preferences within the Michigan Statewide Consumer Directory (SCD). This directory holds information about how consumers wish their health information to be shared and allows them to download clinical data alongside the claims data from Medicare.
