Inspiration

The idea came to me when people I love and care about started to get really sick. I saw that trying to find medical attention was a growing problem especially when they don't have any idea on what places do or don't accept their insurance and if they are going to pay more or less at places based on insurance or not.

What it does

This app allows people to create a secure account with us that has all their personal information a typical doctors office would ask for. Their information is secured in our servers and updated regularly. People are able to log in and then choose what it is they are looking for, a doctor, urgency care, or hospital. They are given three choices and a description on what each one does. After picking a choice they are then able to pick their insurance provider, if no provider they can select to see bundles or packages each company offers as a deal for registering with us. They then select their symptoms. After selecting symptoms they are given a list of hospitals they can filter that do and do not take their insurance or just take their insurance. Each hospital will have an average wait time along with average upfront copay and estimated pay based on their insurance provider. After selecting a hospital they can then send their info through us and take a picture of their insurance card and send it to the same doctor or hospital to be processed quicker.

How I built it

The base is planned to be coded in either Java or C# and plans to integrate google maps to allow users to see a visual of where said hospitals are in correlation to their current location

Challenges I ran into

One challenge I ran into was coming up with a efficient way to protect user information and keep a wide spread leak of personal info from getting out. Taking pictures instead of saving user insurance information helps limit info leaked in the case it is. signing waivers before registering limits liability on our end as well

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Extending the app to not only just hospitals but urgency cares and doctors as well. Also coming up with a way to generate an income so the app can stay free for users to use.

What I learned

Even if the app isn't made by me I would still love to see a company create this app and release it to the general public for free. In order to achieve a better tomorrow we need to help our fellow human. In any way, shape, or form.

What's next for MedX

For now we want to work on getting off the ground and getting the app nationwide for anyone in the US to use. After we can confidently say the app is optimal in the states we want to expand and take the app worldwide for people in other countries as well.
