Inspiration
Many people arrive at medical appointments with fragmented memories: when a symptom started, which dose changed, what they already tried, or where a prescription was filled. MediThread was inspired by the need for a calm, private, and simple way to turn scattered health notes into a clear story that is ready when care begins.
What it does
MediThread is a demo-safe personal health workspace that helps people record medicines, doses, symptoms, illnesses, and care notes; review them in a readable history; and prepare a print-ready Visit Brief for a clinician or pharmacist conversation. Its interactive Health Orbit turns a user’s own records into a visual navigation map while keeping the experience grounded in factual, readable information.
How we built it
MediThread was built as a browser-based prototype with semantic HTML, responsive CSS, and ES modules. The experience uses a small local Node server for easy demo running, browser localStorage for fictional demo data, a canvas-based Health Orbit for navigation, and a print-friendly Visit Brief workflow. The project was developed with GPT-5.6 in Codex to accelerate design, implementation, and polish.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was balancing usefulness with safety. We needed to create a tool that feels genuinely helpful for organizing health information without crossing into diagnosis, treatment advice, or medical decision-making. We also had to make the experience polished and intuitive while keeping it lightweight enough to run locally in the browser.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a complete end-to-end demo flow that lets a user add medicine, mark a dose as taken, record a symptom, review updated history, save a care conversation note, and open a professional-looking Visit Brief. We also delivered an accessible, mobile-friendly interface and a strong demo narrative that makes the value of the product easy to understand in just a few minutes.
What we learned
We learned that the most important part of health-tech prototyping is trust. Transparent summaries, clear boundaries, and a simple, conversation-ready output matter just as much as the underlying features. A thoughtful product can make it easier for people to participate in their own care without pretending to replace a qualified professional.
What's next for MedThread
The next step is to evolve MediThread from a polished demo into a more complete privacy-conscious health companion. We plan to add encrypted persistence, stronger privacy controls, richer pattern insights, caregiver-friendly workflows, and optional integrations for professional review while preserving the project’s safety boundaries.
