Inspiration

In many underserved and rural regions around the world, access to healthcare is often limited or delayed. AI-powered resources have the potential to transform rural medical centers, enabling them to extend their reach and provide faster, more efficient care to a broader population. By harnessing the capabilities of AI, these centers can improve the quality of life for people in these areas, bridging the gap in healthcare accessibility.

What it does

MedSnap is a revolutionary AI chatbot that leverages speech synthesis and voice input(along with text input) to transform how patients address their medical concerns with doctors. MedSnap allows users to register with important medical information and through seamless, natural conversations, dive straight into discussing their current health issues. The AI then generates and sends crucial patient health information, a comprehensive transcript and log, and an intelligent summary of the key points, delivering both the conversation and vital patient health data directly to doctors. By streamlining this process, MedSnap saves physicians invaluable time, making medical care more accessible to underserved rural areas, accelerating diagnoses, and significantly boosting patient throughput in overburdened medical centers

How we built it

We used Python for the backend, and HTML, CSS, and Javascript for frontend

Challenges we ran into

We needed to gain experience with front-end programming and had to learn HTML and CSS to build our website. Another challenge was that we had changed our idea 10 hours into the hackathon as we had realized our initial project was not feasible within the time limit, and we had to figure out alternative ideas to pursue with the remaining time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of learning new programming languages and successfully implementing AI into a real-world application.

What we learned

We gained much more knowledge on front-end development, using the Flask framework in Python, storing data in databases, and using the OpenAI API.

What's next for MedSnap

We plan to polish the website to make the interface friendly and functional on mobile devices. We would also like to improve the ability of the AI to summarize the conversation logs.
