Inspiration

I was inspired by the need of those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. I thought of those of who had medical needs, and had lost everything. How would they be able to receive or access the lifesaving medical supplies they needed? I wondered if I were impacted by the fires, what would happen to me? How would I get medical supplies? I realized donors needed a quick hassle-free way to donate and recipients needed an easy stress-free way to get medical supplies, when they need them.

What it does

MedShare is an easy to use highly effective app that allows donors to provide medical supplies and recipients to receive them. A donor would enter the quantity, brand, and name of the supplies they want to donate along with where they live and how to best contact them. The recipient would enter the quantity, brand, and name of supplies needed. Recipients can also add contact info, location needed, and level of urgency. Then, donors and recipients can search using a search bar or browse an interactive map to find each other. Donors and recipients contact each other using their preferred method of communication, and arrange shipping or pick up of the supplies.

How we built it

I used ChatGPT to learn how to write an AI prompt, then I used my newly learned knowledge to create a prompt for Bolt. I revised my prompt and did some additional chatting with Bolt until it developed a great app.

Challenges we ran into

My biggest challenge in creating the app was creating an interactive map. I tried six different prompts until I finally had a map that included freeways and other geographic features along with pins that showed where supplies were requested and needed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of building an app using AI. I never thought I would design an app, but was able to create one using Bolt.

What we learned

I have learned a lot about AI and its many uses. From self driving cars to easily built apps, this new and expanding field of technology has more potential than I realized.

What's next for MedShare

I will continue to prompt Bolt to improve my app.
