Inspiration
Seeking an international second opinion or cross-border medical care is an overwhelming logistical nightmare. Patients often face fragmented communication, language barriers, and data silos when trying to share critical health files with specialists overseas. MedRoute AI was conceived to automate this coordination bottleneck using an interoperable multi-agent architecture.
What it does
MedRoute AI acts as an end-to-end international patient coordinator. The system orchestrates the entire cross-border care journey through specialized AI agents:Structures & Sanitizes Data: Converts raw patient uploads into secure, structured records.Bridges Language Barriers: Translates complex medical terminologies instantly across international borders.Maintains a Single Source of Truth: Builds an evolving, unified history layer for multiple distinct medical specialists.Ensures Safety Oversight: Automatically flags conflicting expert opinions and escalates them to human medical boards.
How we built it
The platform leverages the core infrastructure of the Aicoo network to achieve seamless agent-to-agent collaboration:The Patient's Personal Agent: Ingests raw PDFs and medical scans, extracts relevant clinical metadata, redacts sensitive personal details for privacy, and builds a Shared Medical Context Block.Cross-Agent Translation Routing: Connects the Patient’s Agent with international hospitality and foreign doctor agents, executing real-time translation of medical data across different languages.Context Sharing & Reuse: Locks the core medical history layer. Diverse specialist agents (e.g., Radiologist, Oncologist) append their findings to this same Aicoo context without data degradation or history loss.Intelligent Request Routing: Detects anomalies or clashing diagnoses between specialist agents, instantly routing the full structured case to a Human Chief Medical Officer Dashboard for review
Challenges we ran into
Context Preservation: Ensuring that nuances in dense medical terminology are completely preserved and not "lost in translation" when routing information between distinct language agents.Privacy & Compliance: Stripping personally identifiable information (PII) accurately across various international document formats while retaining vital clinical contexts.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a continuous, non-destructive data ledger where multiple AI specialists can collaborate on a single patient file simultaneously.Building an automated safety fallback system that recognizes medical conflicts and seamlessly loops human oversight back into the loop.
What we learned
Interoperability is Key: Multi-agent coordination requires a robust underlying layer like Aicoo to ensure diverse agents can share, read, and trust the same context block.Human-in-the-Loop Necessity: Automated routing protocols must always include intelligent escalation triggers to guarantee patient safety when algorithmic opinions diverge.
What's next for MedRoute AI
Payer & Insurance Integration: Adding dedicated Insurance Agents to the network to cross-verify international coverage rules and billing codes in real-time.Expanded Specialized Agents: Developing narrower, fine-tuned agent profiles for fields like pathology and genomics to deepen the context layer's analytical capabilities.
