Web App for patients to keep track of symptoms and notify of pills needed, with feedback by doctors.

Inspiration

Many patients, mainly seniors, have health problems requiring doctors' supervision. The doctors may decide the most accurate amount of mediation for the patient by observing their symptoms. After hearing the problem raised by Canadian Mental Health Association, we decided to create an web app as a platform for patients to record their symptoms, and for doctors to track the patient's status everyday.

Check Your Symptoms

The patient could record their symptoms everyday by simply clicking on the check boxes, or entering other symptoms that are not included in the check boxes. After clicking submit, the data will be transferred to the doctor's computer.

Doctor's Notes

The doctor could enter notes for patients on their computer, and the note would appear on the patient's homepage.

Medication List

The list of pills to take for today. Including the name and image of the pill (for patients to find the pill easily according to the picture) and the time to take it. When it is time to take a pill, there will be a notification that reminds the patient. After taking the pills, the patient could click on the check boxes.

Side Bar

The sidebar contains the doctor's contact and alarm settings.

How we built it

We mainly used HTML, CSS, and Javascript to build the Web App. We also used Figma to design how it would look like as an app.

Challenges

We ran in to many challenges throughout our development process. The first and biggest problem was the limitation of programming language. Our initial purpose was to build something using Python since all of our programmers have more experience in Python comparing to other languages. However, in order to fit our users' (patients) needs and preference, we changed the project to a web app which is easily accessible on phone.

Accomplishments

  • Narrowing down what features we wanted to focus on and getting the HTML to work correctly.
  • We're proud of the design of the web app and its functionality.
  • We learned how to work in a team, and how to make a website in a limited amount of time.
  • Created an app that is well-designed and has great functionality.
