Inspiration

This project is based on the MediHacks 2024 Laerdal Track #6 (a role playing game with peer feedback). I thought it was a great idea to incorporate medical personnel training into a fun game that is low cost and easily accessible!

What it does

It allows the user to answer a variety of common medical scenarios and provides feedback through peers and a machine learning based automatic grading system. The app is complete with a ranking system to make it more fun for users and a timed challenge option which prompts the user to attempt to answer five scenarios in 5 minutes. This improves quick thinking skills and the ability to make good judgement calls within a short amount of time, which are important qualities for professionals working in the medical field.

How we built it

The app was built in python on Visual Studio Code. The GUI was made using Custom Tkinter. User data and scenarios are tracked on a Google Sheet using a Google Sheets API.

Challenges we ran into

It was difficult to find semantic errors and figure out how to make scenario posts accessible to other users. This was my first Hackathon, so it was difficult figuring out how to use the Google Sheets API.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of completing my first project in python and finishing my app before the Hackathon deadline!

What we learned

I've learned so much about python and using APIs. I've also learned more about how to create a GUI and set up GitHub repositories.

What's next for Mednario

I will continue updating the app and improving the GUI after the Hackathon! This project was a lot of work and I'm really excited to submit it!
