Inspiration
We wanted to see if the future of life-saving medical software could be built at the speed of thought. The inspiration was to bridge the gap between static 2D medical scans and the surgeon's spatial intuition. By using "vibe coding" leveraging AI to bridge high-level architectural concepts with functional execution — we aimed to build a surgical intelligence suite that normally takes months, in just one weekend.
What it does
MedMind is a high-fidelity Surgical Intelligence Platform. It takes the complexity of 2D radiological data and synthesizes it into a "Sophisticated Dark" 3D anatomical environment.
Key features:
- Neural Link v4.2 — A Gemini-powered "expert in the room" that analyzes mock scan data and provides grounded clinical research.
- Volumetric Mockups — A visual translation of flat slices into spatial geometry for surgical approach planning.
- Interactive Annotations — A system designed for digital territory mapping on a high-precision medical dashboard.
How we built it
This project is a testament to the power of AI Orchestration.
- The Workflow: I acted as the "Architect of Prompts," using a multi-stage AI pipeline to generate a production-ready React + Vite frontend.
- The Intelligence: We didn't just "plug in" an API we carefully prompted the Gemini 1.5 Flash model to act as a grounded surgical consultant, utilizing its advanced reasoning to simulate clinical analysis.
- The Design: I prompted a specific "Sophisticated Dark" aesthetic, using Framer Motion and Lucide-React to ensure the "vibe" of the application felt like a $100k medical suite.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was "Prompt Precision."
In vibe coding, the quality of the output depends entirely on the clarity of the vision. Translating the dense, technical requirements of surgical visualization into prompts that resulted in functional 3D UI components required deep iteration. We had to balance "vibe" with strict medical UI constraints to ensure the dashboard remained readable and professional.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Zero-to-One Speed — Building a high-fidelity, interactive medical platform from scratch using only a vision and advanced AI prompting.
- Gemini Contextualization — Getting the AI to maintain its "Surgical Specialist" persona while providing real-time research grounding.
- The Visual Vibe — Achieving a UI that looks like it belongs in a modern operating room.
What we learned
This hackathon proved that vibe coding is a superpower. I learned that the barrier between a "good idea" and a "working product" has collapsed. By mastering how to talk to models like Gemini, a single "vibe coder" can now produce work that previously required an entire engineering team.
What's next for MedMind: Surgical Intelligence Platform
The next step is to move from simulated 3D to live DICOM rendering by feeding raw MRI data through an AI-powered preprocessing layer. We also want to expand the "Neural Link" to support voice-activated surgical assistance, allowing surgeons to query anatomical data hands-free during a procedure.
