Inspiration

Many pre-med students struggle to navigate the complex med school application process, especially first-gen students who lack guidance. MedLink was inspired by the need for a centralized mentorship platform that combines community support with AI-driven tools to help students succeed.

What it does

MedLink connects pre-med students with experienced mentors, AI-powered application support, and a collaborative community, helping them refine personal statements, prepare for interviews, and build strong applications.

How we built it

We used React and TypeScript for a scalable and responsive frontend, while Django powers our backend, handling authentication, AI processing, and database management for a seamless user experience.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring efficient AI-driven mentorship, optimizing user engagement, and balancing scalability with security were key hurdles. Implementing a reliable matchmaking system for mentors and mentees also required fine-tuning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built an AI-integrated mentorship platform that provides real-time application guidance, fosters community engagement, and streamlines the medical school admissions journey for pre-med students.

What we learned

We gained deep insights into AI-enhanced mentorship, scalable web development, and the challenges pre-med students face in their applications. We also learned how to create an interactive and engaging user experience.

What's next for MedLink

We plan to expand mentorship opportunities, improve AI-driven feedback, and introduce scholarship tracking, residency prep tools, and enhanced networking features to further support aspiring medical students.
