Inspiration
The journey of creating this project has been deeply personal. It began with a simple question: How can we make healthcare more accessible and affordable for everyone? The answer was not easy, but the path was clear. We needed to challenge the status quo, break down the barriers, and find innovative solutions.
As we delved deeper into the challenges faced by health system pharmacies, the impact of monopolies on the high cost of prescription drugs, and the scarcity of essential medicines in developing countries, we felt a profound sense of urgency. It was clear to us that action was needed.
Every step of the way, we were driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare. This belief fueled our passion and guided our decisions. It led us to create an app that is not just a tool, but a beacon of hope for those struggling with healthcare access.
This project is more than a product; it’s a symbol of innovation and resilience. It’s a reminder that our dreams and actions can shape a better world. This is what truly inspires us.
What it does
Medlink AI serves as a bridge between users and healthcare providers, such as pharmacies, doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. It aims to improve access to healthcare by helping users find the medicine they need based on their financial capability.
The dapp is designed with user privacy in mind. It uses Zero-Knowledge Proof, a cryptographic method that allows one party to prove to another that they know a specific piece of information, without revealing any other details. This means users can receive personalized offers from healthcare providers without sharing any personal information or details about their prescription and budget.
In addition to this, the dapp utilizes artificial intelligence to create informed decisions. It learns from conversations and purchase history to provide a more personalized experience for the user. This way, it not only ensures privacy and affordability but also offers a tailored healthcare service that meets the unique needs of each user.
In essence, the dapp empowers users to take control of their health decisions, ensuring they have access to the care they need while maintaining their privacy and staying within their budget.
How we built it?
Building Medlink AI was a collaborative effort involving teamwork, research, hard work, experience, and plenty of coffee. The development process spanned four key stages:
1. Ideation and Conceptualization: Thorough research and brainstorming sessions shaped project requirements, incorporating real-world data and expert consultations.
2. Architecture and Design: Microservices architecture ensured a user-centric design for seamless healthcare solutions, guided by real-world scenarios and user needs.
3. Implementation: Chainlink Integration: Vital for real-time data, connecting our app with medicine providers' APIs, and facilitating cryptocurrency payments. Zero-Knowledge Proof: Ensured user privacy in transactions and secured verification of prescriptions and healthcare providers. Artificial Intelligence: Employed machine learning for personalized recommendations and HIPAA-compliant user interactions.
4. Development and Testing: Meticulous translation of design into a functional app, with continuous testing and iterative development to meet high standards.
In essence, Medlink AI symbolizes the convergence of innovation and dedication. It's a dynamic solution that not only addresses current healthcare challenges but is also poised for continual improvement, driven by a commitment to accessibility, privacy, and user-centric design.
Challenges we ran into
We faced several implementation challenges, including coordinating team meetings across different time zones. Additionally, the response from API providers exceeded transaction limits, but we addressed it by converting and parsing responses within the smart contract. Integrating multiple proofs with different schemas for Polygon ID initially posed challenges, resolved through code refactoring. Fine-tuning AI to comply with HIPAA standards was also a significant hurdle, but our meticulous efforts ensured Medlink AI's robustness and privacy compliance.

Utilization of Chainlink Functions to generate the lowest, median, and highest price index for a specific drug from various drug providers—pharmacies, manufacturers, hospitals, distributors, and retailers—across cities, regions, or countries.
Personalized offers from drug providers based on the user's budget, enhancing affordability and accessibility.
Implementation of Polygon ID and Zero Knowledge Proof to prevent the misuse of medicine prescriptions.
Enhanced security measures to prevent prescription misuse when the user is not the patient or the prescription belongs to a different patient.
Prevention of dispensing the wrong drug and dosage by utilizing Polygon ID, which allows a purchase only if the prescription matches the drug being acquired, ensuring accuracy and safety.
Secured purchase transactions without revealing the user's identity, personal health information, prescription details, or budget, all accomplished through Zero Knowledge Proof, emphasizing adherence to HIPAA regulations.
Automated retrieval of the price index in the market using Chainlink Price Feed, ensuring accurate and real-time information.
Implementation of Generative AI to assist users in making informed decisions while strictly adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Verification of licensed medical practitioners interacting with the platform using Polygon ID and Chainlink Functions, ensuring the legitimacy of healthcare professionals involved in the process.
What we learned
During this hackathon, we gained valuable insights and knowledge:
- We learned to leverage Chainlink Functions for generating comprehensive drug price indices sourced from multiple providers, enhancing market visibility and accessibility.
- Practical implementation of Polygon ID and Zero Knowledge Proof taught us how to ensure secure transactions, prevent prescription misuse, and protect user data, particularly in healthcare contexts.
- Implementing additional security measures, such as preventing misuse when the user is not the patient or when dealing with prescriptions for different patients, added robustness to our system.
- The use of Polygon ID to restrict drug dispensing only when the prescription matches the acquired drug showcased the importance of accuracy in healthcare transactions.
- Implementing Zero Knowledge Proof for secured purchases reinforced our understanding of privacy-centric design, ensuring users' identity, health information, and budget remained confidential.
- The incorporation of Chainlink Price Feed taught us how to obtain real-time and accurate market data.
