Inspiration: Life can be pretty overwhelming sometimes. As busy college students with classes, clubs, internships, side projects, we understand this. It is important to take a step back, take some deep breaths and reflect through meditation. ZenZone was created to help users take a step back and reflect through meditations. ZenZone is committed to help users reflect and work on mental stability. We understand that mental health issues plague our community, and affect how people function on a day to day basis and on a long-term basis. Several studies have found that regular meditation practice can lead to changes in the brain, such as increased activity in areas associated with positive emotions and decreased activity in areas associated with negative emotions. Meditation has also been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and improve attention and concentration.
How we built our project: The first step to building ZenZone was mapping out the front-end and back-end process. Then our team was split up into two teams:Front End and Back End. Front End worked on designing the User Interface and writing the code that programmed the user interface so that the first page would connect with the second page, the second page would connect with the third page, and the third page would connect with the fourth. The front-end team also worked on format and layout. The back-end team focused on writing code to make the API request the scripts from Chat GPT based on user input. Once both teams finished, the focus was connecting the front end to the back end and making sure the app was seamless
What challenges we faced: The biggest challenge we faced was importing packages on Gradle for the text-to-speech function of ZenZone. The packages were quite outdated which made it difficult to integrate in our cutting edge technology.
What we learned: Our team learned how to work together with different professionals and students with varying level of expertise and experiences to create one project and our team learned how navigate through problems that we occurred through the building process.
What is next for ZenZone: The next phase for ZenZone is to break into the IOS market. To do this, the team must format the app so that it is compatible for iPhones and Apple products.
