Many pharmacies and small clinics still manage medicine inventory manually, making it difficult to track stock and quickly recommend available medicines. We wanted to create an AI-powered system that combines pharmacy inventory management with intelligent assistance to improve efficiency and patient support.

What it does

MediStock AI is an intelligent pharmacy inventory and clinical support system. Users can enter symptoms, and the AI provides educational medicine recommendations based only on the medicines currently available in the pharmacy's inventory. It also allows pharmacists to view stock levels, monitor low-stock items, and manage inventory efficiently.

How we built it

We built MediStock AI using: Python and Flask for the backend and web application. Google Gemini AI for symptom analysis and medicine recommendations. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the user interface. Render for cloud deployment. A custom inventory database stored in Python dictionaries with medicine categories, stock quantities, and OTC information. Challenges we ran into Integrating Gemini AI with inventory-aware recommendations. Deploying the Flask application to the cloud and configuring environment variables. Ensuring the AI never recommends medicines that are out of stock. Designing a simple yet functional user interface within a limited timeframe.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully deployed a fully functional AI-powered web application. Built an inventory-aware recommendation system. Added an inventory dashboard with medicine quantities and stock monitoring. Created a practical healthcare solution that could be useful for pharmacies and clinics. What we learned Cloud deployment using Render. Working with APIs and environment variables securely. Integrating generative AI into real-world applications. Building full-stack applications using Flask and Python under hackathon time constraints. What's next for MediStock AI Barcode and QR code scanning for medicines. Expiry date tracking and alerts. Admin authentication for inventory management. Database integration with SQLite or PostgreSQL. Analytics dashboard and automated stock predictions. Multi-pharmacy support and mobile application development. Integration with electronic health records and pharmacy management systems
