Inspiration
Medical students often face a steep learning curve when transitioning from textbooks to the operating room. Traditional virtual reality simulators use standard controllers that fail to replicate the delicate, pen like grip required for scalpels or catheters. When I first evaluated the Logitech MX Ink, I immediately realized its potential to bridge this gap. I was inspired to create a system where the stylus could act as a precision surgical tool, giving trainees the exact tactile and spatial awareness they need. I want to build a cognitive operating room where a trainee could feel the physical resistance of bone or tissue while receiving real time guidance from an artificial intelligence surgical team.
What it does
MediSim is a high fidelity Mixed Reality surgical orchestrator designed for the Meta Quest ecosystem. It transforms the Logitech MX Ink into a highly precise medical instrument capable of simulating complex orthopedic drills and cardiology catheters. As I perform a simulated procedure on a volumetric patient mannequin, the system tracks my spatial movements and the physical pressure I apply using the stylus tip. A local Multi Agent artificial intelligence orchestrator runs in the background. This system distributes tasks to specialized virtual agents like an Attending Surgeon and a Surgical Nurse. These agents analyze my performance and adapt the environment, such as changing patient vitals or suggesting different tools, creating an immersive and responsive training scenario.
