💡 Inspiration
We were inspired by the problem of IV bags running empty without being noticed, especially in crowded hospitals with limited nursing staff.
⚙️ What It Does
MediScale IV continuously monitors the weight of an IV fluid bag. When the weight reaches a critical low level, it automatically activates a buzzer and red LED to alert the healthcare staff.
🔧 How We Built It
We used a 5 kg load cell, HX711 ADC, Arduino Nano, buzzer and LED. The load cell measures the bag's weight, while the Arduino processes the readings and triggers the alert when the threshold is reached.
🧩 Challenges Faced
Our main challenges were getting stable weight readings, reducing false alarms, and designing a simple and reliable setup.
🏆 What We’re Proud Of
We successfully developed a working, low-cost prototype with a total cost of around ₹450.
📚 What We Learned
We learned about Arduino programming, sensors, load-cell interfacing, signal processing, hardware integration, and healthcare-focused problem solving.
🚀 What’s Next for MediScale IV
We plan to add ESP32-based wireless monitoring, a nursing dashboard, real-time data tracking, and predictive alerts to make the system smarter and scalable.## Inspiration
