MedInsight - AI-Powered Medicine Information Platform

🌟 Inspiration

Healthcare accessibility is a major challenge in Pakistan. Patients and even healthcare professionals often struggle to find reliable, centralized information about medicines, including dosage, side effects, and interactions. Many available resources are scattered, outdated, or difficult to navigate.

Inspired by this gap, we built MedInsight—an AI-powered platform that provides instant, trustworthy pharmaceutical knowledge. Our goal was to make medical information easily accessible, ensuring both patients and professionals have the right data at their fingertips.

🚀 What We Built

MedInsight is a responsive web application that allows users to:

Search for medicines by name, formula, dosage, and side effects.
Get AI-powered responses using OpenAI’s ChatGPT API for medical queries.
Access a structured medicine database built with JSON for easy updates.
Use the platform seamlessly on mobile and desktop devices.
Experience a clean and intuitive UI/UX, ensuring effortless navigation.

🔧 Tech Stack

We used modern technologies to develop MedInsight:

Frontend: Next.js (React-based framework)
Backend: JSON file-based database
Authentication: Clerk for secure user management
AI Engine: OpenAI’s ChatGPT API
Languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript

🏗️ How We Built It

We started development on December 25, 2024, and completed the project by January 27, 2025. Our team worked in a collaborative environment:

Muzamil handled the backend, setting up the JSON-based medicine database.
Zaheer worked on the frontend, implementing Next.js for smooth user interaction.
Tufail, as the Project Manager, ensured timely completion and organized tasks efficiently.
Aisha designed the UI/UX, making the platform intuitive and visually appealing.

💡 Challenges We Faced

AI Query Optimization: Fine-tuning ChatGPT API to provide accurate, safe, and relevant medical responses.
Data Structuring: Designing a JSON-based medicine database that is scalable and easy to update.
Authentication Setup: Implementing secure login/signup with Clerk for better user management.
Responsive Design: Ensuring seamless performance across different devices and screen sizes.
