Inspiration

Approximately 39.5% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes, according to the National Cancer Institute. And key to combating cancer is to predict its growth; thus, MediModel was made to help support the work of researchers and doctors towards treatment and a cure, and to help patients in understanding their condition.

What it does

Based on data from the National Center for Biotechnology Information, MediModel provides a visual model of breast cancer development. Users can input files with information on a tumor, a time period for projection, and MediModel produces a model of how the cancer might change over time. The program features interactive dragging, in order to see the dimensions of the model.

How we built it

We used Java, Python, and Python libraries, to build MediModel.

We're happy that we were able to implement a 3D graph!

We learned about 3D graphing, medical research, and cancer growth.

What's next for MediModel

New research is coming out about cancers and growth models; with a growing set of data, MediModel can grow more and more accurate! Data on other diseases such as COVID-19 may also be applied to MediModel's projection capabilities.
