Inspiration
We saw how often elders forget their medicines. Some even faced issues because no one noticed side effects on time. We wanted to make something simple that could really help them and their families.
What it does
MediMinder reminds users to take their medicines. It tracks missed doses and gives a risk score. It lets users report side effects via chat. If something serious is detected, it alerts a caregiver through WhatsApp or SMS.
How we built it
We used typescript for the frontend and supabase for the backend. We added Firebase to send reminders. For side effect reporting, we used AI to chat and detect serious symptoms. Twilio was used for sending alerts to caregivers.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up real-time reminders was tricky. Training AI to understand side effect descriptions took time. Making the UI simple enough for elders was a challenge too.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a working solution that actually feels helpful. It’s easy to use, and everything works in one prompt. The caregiver alert system felt like a real win.
What we learned
We learned how powerful AI can be with the right use case. We understood the importance of accessibility and simplicity. We saw how one prompt can lead to real impact.
What's next for MediMinder
We want to add voice input for elders. We’ll add regional language support. And maybe even build a full health dashboard with doctor sync.
