In Japan and worldwide, millions of people don't know which medical specialist to consult when they feel unwell. They either delay seeking help or visit the wrong department, wasting precious time. MediMentor was born from a simple question: "What if AI could guide everyone to the right doctor, instantly?"

MediMentor is an AI-powered healthcare consultation agent featuring Pipi, a friendly AI fairy who listens to your symptoms and automatically routes you to the most appropriate medical specialist.

How we built it
How we built it
MediMentor was built using Next.js for the frontend and backend API, deployed on Abacus AI. The AI engine uses large language models to analyze natural language symptom descriptions and route users to the appropriate specialist agent. Each specialist has a unique persona, communication style, and strict medical compliance rules to ensure safe, accurate guidance without crossing legal boundaries.

The biggest challenge was implementing strict medical legal compliance (Japan's Medical Practitioners Act) while still providing genuinely helpful guidance. We solved this by establishing 7 absolute rules across all specialist agents: no diagnosis, no treatment instructions, no prescriptions, clear disclaimers, and evidence-based information only.

Building healthcare AI requires balancing helpfulness with safety. Every feature decision must consider both user experience and legal/ethical boundaries. We learned that the most impactful AI solutions are those that empower users without replacing professional judgment.
