Inspiration

The idea for MediMate came from observing the everyday health challenges people face. Many individuals experience symptoms regularly but don’t always have the time or resources to visit a doctor for minor issues. This inspired us to create a solution that could simplify health management and improve daily well-being.

What it does

MediMate allows users to input their symptoms and receive appropriate medicine suggestions. It also helps users set medicine dose reminders to ensure timely intake. Additionally, it promotes wellness by offering personalized exercise suggestions with step-by-step guides, including images and videos for proper form. The app also features an AI chatbot for instant health tips , provides access to doctor contact information and also locate nearby pharmacies to buy recommended medicines.

How we built it

We started by dividing tasks among team members, with some focusing on backend development and others on frontend design. We used MongoDB for the database, JavaScript as the primary language, ReactJS library for building the user interface and integrated Google-Maps Api for locating nearby pharmacies. For medicine suggestions, we integrated Rapid API to fetch accurate information. Platforms like GitHub and existing healthcare applications were referenced for insights and ideas. Our team held regular brainstorming sessions, debugging marathons, and enhancement meetings via virtual platforms like Google Meet. The project was built collaboratively over several weeks, with constant iterations and improvements.

Challenges we ran into

We faced several challenges, including ensuring accurate symptom-medicine mapping, integrating exercise guides effectively, and debugging complex backend issues. Balancing features while maintaining user-friendliness was another hurdle we overcame through teamwork and persistence.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a comprehensive and user-friendly health companion that simplifies everyday health management. Successfully integrating features like exercise guides, map & nearby pharma , an AI chatbot, and doctor contact information into one cohesive platform was a significant achievement.

What we learned

This project taught us the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication. We gained valuable experience in backend and frontend development, feature integration, and debugging complex systems.

What's next for MediMate

We plan to enhance MediMate by incorporating advanced AI features for better symptom analysis, expanding the database of exercises and health tips, and introducing multilingual support to make it accessible to a wider audience.
