Smart Screening and Diagnosis Assistant
Inspiration
The lack of accessible healthcare in rural areas was the main driving force behind this project. We were inspired by the idea of leveraging technology to provide medical support where traditional healthcare infrastructure is limited. Seeing the potential of machine learning in diagnosing heart conditions, we decided to develop a product that could bridge the healthcare gap in underserved communities.
What We Learned
Throughout the development of this project, we gained a deep understanding of:
- Machine learning algorithms for heartbeat classification.
- The importance of data collection and processing to ensure accurate diagnosis.
- Healthcare accessibility challenges in remote areas and how technology can address them.
- How drones can be integrated into healthcare delivery systems for medical supply transportation.
How We Built the Project
- We started by developing a stethoscope integrated with IoT sensors to capture heartbeats.
- The captured data is transmitted to a cloud-based server for analysis using machine learning algorithms.
- A user-friendly web interface was built to display the diagnosis results and generate a detailed report.
- After diagnosis, the report is sent to the nearest clinic or hospital, and medication is delivered to the patient via drones.
Challenges Faced
- Data accuracy: Ensuring that the stethoscope's sensors captured high-quality data for the machine learning model to work effectively.
- Connectivity in rural areas: We had to account for the lack of stable internet connections in some regions, which could hinder real-time analysis.
- Logistics of drone delivery: We needed to carefully plan the drone routes and regulations to ensure medicines could be safely and efficiently delivered to remote locations.

What's next for MediLink
We plan to:
- Expand the system to diagnose other medical conditions, making it a comprehensive remote health screening tool.
- Partner with more clinics and hospitals to increase the reach and impact of the service.
- Improve the drone logistics system for faster and more reliable medication delivery.
- Work on securing regulatory approvals and compliance with healthcare standards to facilitate large-scale deployment.
