Inspiration

The Covid-19 pandemic is teaching us that one of the key points to manage the emergency is to allow health professionals to keep track of the health status of their patients, in order to prevent infections and, in case of Covid-19 positives, to treat them. Moreover, during the lockdown the interaction between patients and doctors, that is in most cases physical, is even much more difficult tham before. Finally, more and more critically ill patients are not going to the hospital because of the fear of being infected. One in three cases comes too late...now is the time to take action!

What it does

MediHom is an app that directly connects patient worldwide with health professionals, based in four key points:

1. Interface with general health profile information.
2. COVID-19 TRIAGE (Covid-19 patient screening area).
3. Interface with video call for telemonitoring and follow up.
4. Possibility to share medical documents and prescriptions.

How we built it

For the short time available we have developed the interface to give an idea of how we would like our app. To do this, we used inVision which allowed us to model the interfaces. In fact, we have thought the most important thing during this phase: bring to people some interactive app with clear and real images about interfaces where you can understand rapidly what have we built.

Value prepositions

Currently the existing apps are too specific and divided between them. We are a mix team of different professional backgrounds (doctor, pharmacist, UX design, developers, marketing team, digital solution, public speaker), all ready to face the challenge!
MediHom is the solution to the current Covid-19 pandemic and a resource for having an integrated health system in the present and in the future.

Problems:
1. Fear of directly contacting the doctor or going to the First Aid in order to not get infected.
2. Absence of an online unique patient health profile available to both patients and health professionals.
3. The communication of the actual data is performed in inadequate channels (socials).
4. Absence of a fast Triage and follow-up for Covid-19.
5. The patient is not able to directly share with the doctor the medical devices health data.

Challenges we ran into

• EU different National Health care systems regulations.
• Complexity because of the many actors involved in the process.
• Short time to develope the app.
• Covid-19 health risks.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

• Our app helps keep social distancing during the pandemic.
• Possibility to use the app any time globally.
• We help all people with chronic and disabling diseases to fasten the comunication with health professionals.
• Our app gives the possibility to be integreted with medical health devices and provide data in real time to the doctor.
•Testing centers can use our app in order to provide testing results to the patients directly through the app.

What we learned

• We learned to buid from scratch and organize a team of professionals with different backgrounds and didn't know each other before the hackathon.
• In our team, the cultural and skills differences represented a strength that allowed us to have a clear vision of the final product. United together by the passion to improve the world!
• We carried out interviews and customer satisfaction surveys of the app, both among possible users and in the healthcare sector, which allowed us to have new insights and helped us in the operational and design choices.
• We learned how to use Slack, InVision and DevPost.

What’s next for MediHom

We want to start to propose our app locally in Lombardy Italy and then in the EU.

We have identified our partners and will start presenting them the app in this order:

2. Private health professionals and private health institutions
3. Health smart devices
4. General health doctors and public health
5. Statistical research institutes

Health profile and Covid triage will be free for all patients and doctors. There will be a subscription of 5 Euros a month for all our other features.
