Inspiration

Covid-19 Pandemic brought us some never seen before scenarios. We were confined to our homes and when we wanted to avail some medical facilities, we realized that there is no one stop portal online to view all the healthcare facilities around us. It was chaotic to gather information about healthcare facilities around us that too when this was required urgently. Also, we realized that smaller clinics or individual practitioners around us did not have means to list their businesses online as it required some initial investment to create and maintain IT infrastructure. And so we were not aware of all the healthcare options available to us in our localities. Also, when we tried to get our medicines delivered to our homes, we realized, our nearby medical stores that can deliver to us in quick time were not listed online and we had no choice but to order from bigger online pharmacy stores that took time to get medicines delivered to us due to their logistic challenges.

What it does

MediGrow provides one stop solution for : 1. Users to access all the nearby healthcare facilities related information on their fingertips. 2. Health care facilities from small clinics, health centers etc. to big hospitals to digitalize their services readily and at minimal costs. 3. Local Pharmaceutical stores to digitalize their easily and at minimal costs i.e. list and sell their goods online for sale.

How I built it

We have used Javascript,SpringBoot,Bootstrap,CSS,HTML,Java and AWS to create the web app.

Challenges I ran into

We had no prior experience of building a web application. It was quite a challenge to learn and use the above listed technologies for development for the first time. Also, we did our development on top of our regular office work and had to juggle between both at times. This was quite hectic but fruitful. Also, the idea has such a wide scope for expansion in the future and its was challenging to narrow down the functionalities that we were going to develop in first phase.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Starting with no web development background, we were able to implement our idea successfully and build the desired web portal. Also, the learning as part of this journey was significant and has enabled us to build more such solutions in future. These are quite significant achievements for us.

What I learned

We got to learn about different aspects of healthcare industry and different areas that can be digitized for betterment of the society. From our personal learning point of view, we got to learn web development and also our business analysis skills were enhanced.

What's next for MediGrow

There are some enhancements and aditional features that will be implemented in coming time for MediGrow.

  1. Facility to book appointment at any Medical facility using the app.
  2. Details about all the hospital charges which includes Consultation charge, CT scan charges etc.
  3. User will be able to track his/her medical history by keeping records of past test and scans.
  4. 24*7 chatbot that will be able to answer all frequently asked questions. Also, there is a huge scope of enhancements for MediGrow based on vast landscape of Healthcare Industry
