Inspiration

The inspiration for this project revolves around the age of modern web development. Billionaire tech companies such as Apple have adopted this graphical UI, and looking at their web page inspired me to create my own webpage for a fictional company.

What it does

The webpage has several pages, each following a common style with the sole purpose of creating an all-purpose website for a fictional company. The homepage showcases the title with the ability to slide up and down to reveal more information. The homepage takes advantage of headers and footers to maintain consistency and accessibility throughout. The next page presents interested users with a job catalog, allowing them to search for a desired job. For those unsure, title cards are shown with job descriptions inside. The goal of the website is to maintain simplicity and, instead of having clutter spread across the website, it is contained in something that is aesthetically pleasing and easy to access. The third page allows users to apply with a form that records and saves user data for future use. That future use would come in the dashboard, which utilizes the previously stored user data to create a personalized dashboard for the company.

How we built it

The project was built using three coding languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We went page by page, prioritizing accessibility features and animations to maintain the modern style we aimed to achieve. Each element was positionally placed to adapt to a large variety of devices, keeping the website as polished as possible. We took advantage of consistency in font and style across all pages.

Challenges we ran into

The project was the combination of several ideas and drafts. Many drafts, once fully coded and perfected, turned out to oppose the view I was going for, requiring significant modifications or, in many cases, removal entirely. Challenges included formatting each element in a way that looked good not only on the device I was coding on but also on other devices, including mobile phones. Another challenge was timing the animations, as the webpage takes advantage of several.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the accessibility of the website. While emphasizing simplicity, the website also includes a whole panel of accessibility features appealing to all users. For any confused users, we incorporated a functioning chatbot embedded into the homepage that users can use to ask questions. Overall, we are proud of the flow of the website and how smoothly it transitions from slide to slide and page to page.

What we learned

Through this project, I learned that coding is a multistep process of trial and error. Bugs will occur, and in many cases, what you wish to achieve won’t be there on your first try. The process of debugging and making modifications is a tedious task but necessary to get the desired outcome.

What's next for Medigen

Medigen is expanding its webpage into a more professional style while still maintaining its simplicity. The hope is that this webpage for a fictional company can one day become the blueprint for a webpage for a real company. The new age of web development is coming, and I wish to jump on it as soon as possible.
