Inspiration

The inspiration for MediFrnd came from observing how dependent healthcare professionals still are on traditional pharma representatives, PDFs, and manual searches for drug and insurance-related information. In many cases, doctors spend valuable time clarifying whether a drug is covered under a specific scheme or insurance policy. We wanted to explore how AI-driven conversational systems could simplify this process and make critical information available on demand, without delays and without manual effort.

What it does

MediFrnd is a web-based AI assistant that acts as a digital medical representative for healthcare professionals. It instantly answers natural language questions about drugs, including usage, dosage, and safety details. The system also provides clear reimbursement and insurance coverage information using structured data. This helps doctors make faster, informed decisions without searching through multiple sources.

How we will build it

We propose to build MediFrnd, an AI-powered digital medical representative designed to provide healthcare professionals with instant and accurate drug and reimbursement information. The solution will be accessible through a web-based conversational interface, allowing users to ask natural language questions related to drug usage, dosage, safety, and insurance coverage.

The system will combine a large language model with structured drug and reimbursement datasets to generate clear, context-aware responses. For the hackathon, we will demonstrate the end-to-end workflow using publicly available and synthetic data, while designing the architecture to be scalable and ready for real-world healthcare integrations.

MediFrnd aims to reduce the time and effort healthcare professionals spend searching across multiple sources, enabling faster and more informed medical and financial decision-making.
