Inspiration
Many countries do not have a synchronized medical platform where patients can view their health records, contact doctors, etc. Oftentimes, they need to wait long hours to get medical help due to logistics and lack of communication between patient and doctors. This inspired us to create Medicord, a web platform that is designed to help patients to keep track of their medical records and efficiently communicate with their doctors.
What it does
This website securely stores all of the patient’s medical records, through the use of blockchain and allows them to book appointments with their doctor. In case they need immediate medical help, they can set up a virtual consultation with their doctor. Also, this platform allows users to connect with doctors of natural medicine such as homeopathy, ayurveda, etc. All of these doctors will be able to view the patient’s record, thereby reducing wait time and improving the patient's health.
Our web-app "Medicord" is built with features:
- Store all your medical records securely on the blockchain.
- Book appointments with doctors.
- Virtual consultation with doctors.
How we built it
- React.js, Next.js: frontend
- Node.js, Solidity: backend
- Figma: UI design
- Hedera: deploy smart contracts and building decentralized chatroom
- Twilio: chat
- Replit: for hosting
Challenges we ran into
- There were quite a few challenges we had while building this project. We had to brainstorm and come up with a feasible idea that was innovative and could be implemented within the given time frame.
- Some of our teammates did not have much experience using React.js and they had to learn more about it especially when it came to fixing issues.
- Moreover, implementing Hedera was a bit difficult as we did not have much experience with it.
- Finally, since we were located in different time zones, it was hard to collaborate.
- In spite of these challenges, we were able to complete the project within the deadline.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Implementing Hedera
- Completing project within given time frame
- Using the minimalistic design, which makes the website easy to use
What we learned
- Collaboration with other developers
- How to use Hedera in the project
- Using Twilio
- Efficient time management ## What's next for Medicord
- Building a mobile app
- Adding more features(i.e. emergency medical assistance, elderly care, etc)
