Medicare – The Hospital App
Inspiration
Hospitals operate through effective coordination among doctors, nurses, labs, and other healthcare professionals. But with so many roles and urgent needs, miscommunication and delays are common. I wanted to build a unified platform that gives every hospital staff member—from receptionist to surgeon—a focused, role-specific tool to do their job faster and smarter.
What it does
Medicare provides a personalized dashboard for each hospital role, enabling staff to manage patients, access records, track tests, monitor vitals, and collaborate in real time. From registering a patient to issuing medication or writing a discharge summary—everything happens in one app.
How we built it
I designed a modular, role-based system where access and features change based on the staff member’s login. The patient data and hospital departments are centralized but displayed differently for each role using simple condition-based logic and clean UI components.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was figuring out how to logically categorize the screens across many user types while keeping the flow intuitive. Mapping out the right structure and roles without clutter was a puzzle I had to solve early.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of creating a truly unified hospital tool—something usable by all roles without being overwhelming. I also made real-time updates and internal messaging possible for smoother coordination.
What we learned
Designing for multiple user types means thinking beyond screens—it’s about roles, needs, and flow. Building empathy for each hospital worker helped us make smarter UI and UX choices.
What’s next for Medicare
I aim to add AI-assisted triage, offline access, and deeper analytics for hospital administrators. Eventually, we want Medicare to become the all-in-one operating system for hospitals—smart, fast, and human-centered.
