Tests Bookings and Record Assessments System

Inspiration

The long waiting hours to take a test and get test result at medical test centers can be frustrating and counterproductive to test takers. Similarly, having lots of persons lurking around to take tests can cause a psychiatric disorientation for management personnel's. Having to create record cards manually for test takers can be tiring and monotonous coupled with the increased cost of procuring and maintaining record cards. Hence, there is a need to develop a system whereby prospective medical test takers can remotely make a test booking and create a personal record before checking into the diagnostic center. This is expected to reduce waiting times and job monotony.

What it does

We have developed a system were prospective test takers can make a particular test booking and create a personal record before coming to the test center. Our app helps the organization to access and manage the personal records and appointment bookings of test takers.

How we built it

We leveraged on the Microsoft Power Platform in building our system. First of all we created a virtual agent bot which can interact with our prospective test takers and guide them to creating a personal record or making appointment bookings. Secondly, we recruited and automated a booking site into our SharePoint list and in addition, we also integrated a Microsoft form to another SharePoint List. Finally, a Power App was then created to access the various items in the various SharePoint list.

Challenges we ran into

Since we are all at the elementary stage of using the Power Platform, we encountered a lot of challenges. Worth mentioning was the challenge of automating our SharePoint lists to generate a unique ID which was to be sent to the user. Secondly, the issue of how to merge two SharePoint list into one Power App became a challenge. These various challenges were overcome with the helpful insights of our teachers and useful YouTube videos.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It is a thing of pride to have developed what could become a State of the Art system in curbing human traffics at diagnostic test centers. While, this App is not full proof, we are proud that we might have as well laid the foundation on which subsequent versions can be built.

What we learned

During the course of building this system, we have garnered a lot of skill in using the Microsoft Power Platform. Building a virtual agent, automating various process and designing the Power App created in us soft skills such as resilience, team work and a knack for success. We are confident to say that we have the basic knowledge in carving out a career path as Microsoft Power Platform Advocates.
