Inspiration

The inspiration for MHM was to create a responsive and easy-to-use platform for groups to stay safe when working in hazardous environments. Heavy machinery and other dangerous factors in a work environment could lead to injury or worse, and the idea for MHM is to provide instant support when something goes wrong on the field.

What it does

Medical Health Monitor is a website prototype that provides real-time employee health monitoring for onsite management in the case of medical emergencies. Although its original purpose is designed for upper-level management, this proof of concept is applicable across different demographics of people such as for caretakers and elderly family members, and parents/guardians and infants. By providing live health statuses and alerting when heartbeat rate/oxygen rate/any criteria choice (in the form of a “health bar”) falls below a certain parameter, this web application prototype will decrease time-to-action for any safety-related incident. The multi-view page allows for large or small scalability.

How we built it

Our various pages were created with HTML and styled with CSS, and an alert window was created with Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

As a group, our knowledge coming into this hackathon was extremely limited. However, as a team we managed to create a website prototype to showcase our idea.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working as a group to expand our knowledge in HTML/CSS and Javascript, as well as creating a scalable model for medical health monitoring.

What we learned

We learned how to create alert boxes in JavaScript, button hyperlinks in HTML, and Front-end design through CSS.

What's next for Medical Health Monitor

For Medical Health Monitor, we want to incorporate technology that captures a person’s health information in real-time. This can be completed by using an Apple Watch that gauges heartbeat rate and oxygen levels, which is then imported to Medical Health Monitor for viewing purposes. We would also like to expand by creating a database for user login credentials.
