Helping a family business in changing towards more modern methods.
What it does
Allows for payments to be made online since the family-run dentist only had manual "in-office" payment methods at the time.
How we built it
Started with a rough sketch of all the pages that will be made. Split the work and created the login page using React, and created a temporary database using SQL. Proceeded to make a payment portal that allows the user to enter credit card information to pay.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting a JDBC Database to the React front-end portion for a smooth login process. Being able to use third-party payment gateways in our web app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Self-learning the connection between SQL databases and login information using APIs. Utilizing react hooks for the payment portal for a more interactive experience.
What we learned
Having more dedicated teammates will increase the work productivity of the whole. Payment portals take extra fees to set up for professional use.
What's next for Medical Bill Portal
Implementing a true and reliable payment gateway so that the web app can be used at the dentist asap. Adding more side features and interactive buttons for a more fulfilled web app feel. Brushing up the CSS design to look more professional and accessible from all device types.
