Inspiration
We were attempting to find ways to collaborate with one another in our respective fields. Ritam is a CS major and Laith is a BME major. As such, we were inspired to use AI to revolutionize the medical field. Laith had mentioned that he learned about misdiagnosing patients being one of the leading problems in the medical field. We then knew we wanted to utilize AI to fix this issue!
What it does
MedicAI is an artificial intelligence chatbot that can aid doctors and patients to find out what health issues one may have. It can ask for historical conditions that have affected you in the past and doctor-like questions to help diagnose you.
How we built it
To build our project, we utilized the Llama 2 LLM from Meta and Microsoft. We then fine-tuned this model with medical data. We also used Flask and React for the first time!
Challenges we ran into
Everything was a challenge. We had to figure out cloud computing to run the Llama 2 model and build a modernized, elegant website for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is both one of our first AI projects, and we are extremely happy that we got to work together and build this.
