Our tool uses the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to help you explore the roots of conflict and embrace a more empathetic perspective towards yourself and others.

What It Does 🛠️

  • Advanced Emotional and Needs Analysis: Users freely describe a conflict, and our AI, powered by Google's Gemini, analyzes the emotions and underlying universal needs. This process offers deep insights into the root causes of the conflict, enhancing understanding from both perspectives.

  • Authentic Expression: Utilizing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) principles, Gemini guides users in constructing messages that state objective facts, express emotions, acknowledge needs, and make specific requests, fostering clearer and more empathetic communication.

  • Introspection and Growth: The platform encourages users to delve deeper into their own and others' emotional responses. This not only helps in managing personal reactions to prevent conflict escalation but also fosters empathy towards others, crucial for resolving disputes amicably.

  • Conversation History: Users have access to their past conversations, allowing them to revisit and further explore conflicts at their convenience. This feature supports ongoing understanding and refinement of resolution strategies, reinforcing the learning and application of empathetic communication.

How we built it 👩‍💻

  • Minimalist Interface: Chat interface with text input for seamless interaction with Gemini AI via Google’s API.
  • No-code Development: Entirely developed on Bubble, using the Gemini-Pro plugin.

Challenges We Ran Into 🚧

  • Managing Complex AI Interactions: Integrating the AI's detailed responses effectively on a no-code platform presented significant technical challenges. Ensuring these interactions remained fluid and coherent within the constraints of the platform required meticulous configuration and testing.

  • Adapting to Specific Communication Needs: Tailoring Nonviolent Communication (NVC) strategies to complex scenarios, such as adult-child interactions, was particularly challenging. These situations often require adjustments to standard NVC approaches to effectively address the unique emotional and cognitive levels involved.

  • Ethical Considerations: As our platform navigates the nuances of psychological interactions, we are acutely aware of the ethical boundaries necessary. Maintaining these without professional psychological oversight is a constant priority to ensure we provide responsible and safe guidance.

  • AI Response Optimization: One of the more intricate challenges was programming the generative AI model to consistently deliver short yet substantive responses that are appropriately tailored to the specific context of each user's situation. Achieving this balance of brevity and depth in AI-generated advice necessitated ongoing adjustments and refinements.

What's next for Mediation Hub 🚀

  • Live Mediation Feature: We plan to introduce live mediation features to facilitate real-time conflict resolution between parties. This feature will incorporate professional guidance to ensure effective and sensitive handling of disputes, which is why it is not available currently.
  • Progress Tracking and Gamification: Developing a user interface for progress tracking and considering gamification to make learning NVC more engaging and effective.
