Inspiration
I wanted to teach kids about media literacy due to how media is so predominant these days and dangerous it can be without it due to the lots of misinformation these past few years.
What it does
Interactive website that has mini games to teach kids about CRAAP and media literacy.
How we built it
Use VSCode and HTML, CSS, JavaScript to make everything work.
Challenges we ran into
The project scope was a bit too much for one person, I wish I had the foresight to scale down a bit but I prefer giving polished work to show to more off the vision than rough work that's messy.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am very proud of my mini memory card game, that took a while. I am also, very proud about how much I manage to accomplish in 24 hours.
What we learned
I learned how to use JavaScript into making quizzes and games and how to bust out a project in 24 hours (I didn't think it was possible for somebody like me). I learned more in depth how CSS and HTML melt together to create a nice layout and how I should not program some of my code.
What's next for Media Literacy for Us!
I would love to update the look to be more kid-friendly and not look so bland with more bight colors and shapes and add more questions and content to each of the games. Obviously, I would want to finish off the site with the missing games and have a section that can have more activities that maybe teachers can use in their classrooms and a section dedicated to AI since AI has added a new layer of complexity to this lack of literacy that some kids may not be able to understand.
