MEdia

Have you ever wanted to feel a part of something? Well, this is for you. With MEdia, we find movies with your name in the title! This way, you can live vicariously and immerse yourself in a new life.

Inspiration

At first, our team was lost on how to narrow down a topic such as media. After some discussion, one of our team members said that they used to pretend that they were characters in the movies/TV shows they watched to make it more interesting, thus MEdia was born.

What it does

MEdia takes a name input and provides a list of movies that have that name in the title.

How we built it

We built it using a cross-platform web app that we built in VSCode using a database API called TMDB.

Challenges we ran into

API limits and challenging learning curves when working with converting JSON configurations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of.

We finished all of our original goals in a timely manner and produced a product we are proud of.

What we learned

We learned about interacting with databases in a JSON environment and fixing nuances and special cases with CSS and HTML.

What's next for MEdia

For future updates, MEdia may be enhanced to include TV shows, actors, books, and other forms of media. We could also add a query feature that checks multiple names and can see how often they are referenced in dialogue for a more interactive experience.
