My Story: Beyond the Algorithm

The Problem of Plenty I've been there. It's the end of a long day, and I finally have a moment to myself. I open Netflix, or Prime, or my favorite book app, and I'm met with a wall of choices—an infinite scroll of "trending" content and algorithmically-generated suggestions.

"Because you watched The Office," it says, offering me another workplace sitcom. But what the algorithm doesn't know is that tonight, I don't want another sitcom. I'm feeling nostalgic, or adventurous, or I'm wrestling with a big question. I'm looking for something that matches my mood, not just my viewing history.

This was my frustration. In a world with more content than ever, finding something truly meaningful felt harder than ever. I was drowning in options, but starving for real connection.

The Spark of an Idea

I've always been a huge admirer of bloggers like Jason Kottke, who for years has manually curated his own "media diet"—a thoughtful log of what he's been reading and watching. Inspired by him and others who shared their own thoughtful consumption, I loved the intentionality of it. It felt like a mindful, human-centric alternative to the cold, automated feeds that dominate our lives.

But I also wondered: what if we could capture that same spirit of thoughtful curation, but make it instant and personalized for everyone? What if, instead of just reading about someone else's great media diet, you could generate your own, on-demand?

That was the simple idea that sparked Media Diet. I envisioned a tool that worked less like a data-driven algorithm and more like a conversation with a very well-read, empathetic friend. A friend who, when you say, "I want something that feels like a rainy Sunday morning in a Parisian café," knows exactly what you mean.

I wanted to build a curator, not just a recommender. A place where a single, nuanced idea could blossom into a complete cultural experience—a perfect movie, a couple of insightful books, and a few brilliant articles to explore.

My Philosophy: Feed Your Curiosity

I believe that what we consume shapes how we think and feel. A good "media diet" isn't just about entertainment; it's about nourishment for the mind and soul. It's about the joy of stumbling upon a film that changes your perspective, a book that feels like it was written just for you, or a blog that introduces you to a new passion.

My mission is to make that moment of discovery easier and more meaningful. I'm here to help you move beyond the endless scroll and find content that truly resonates. I'm here to help you feed your curiosity.
