Inspiration The inspiration for CareScan stemmed from personal experiences and stories of families managing chronic health conditions. Observing the difficulties elderly individuals face in remembering their medication schedules and the stress caregivers endure in staying updated inspired us to create a solution. We wanted to design a platform that ensures both medication adherence and seamless communication between family members, promoting health and connection.

What it Does CareScan is a comprehensive medication management app that:

Sends customizable reminders for medication schedules.
Allows caregivers to monitor their loved ones’ medication adherence in real time.
Provides a digital log of medication history for easy tracking and reporting.
Offers a user-friendly interface designed for elderly individuals and tech-savvy caregivers alike.

How We Built It

Research:

Conducted surveys with medical professionals and target users to identify their pain points.
Analyzed existing solutions and focused on bridging the gaps in functionality and usability.

Design:

Designed the user interface using Canva, ensuring simplicity and accessibility.
Incorporated features like medication reminders, caregiver updates, and health tracking.

Development:

Built the app using a phased approach, focusing on core functionalities first.
Integrated secure data handling mechanisms to protect user information.

Challenges We Ran Into

Balancing User Needs: Designing an interface that works seamlessly for both elderly users and tech-savvy caregivers was a challenge.
Feature Prioritization: Deciding which features to include in the prototype while keeping the app lightweight and intuitive.
QR Code Integration: Due to funding and logistical constraints, the QR code feature had to be postponed for future development.
