Inspiration

One of our team members mother is an active nurse and we asked her what one of her most tedious difficulties were in her field. She stated that many problems arose from mislabeled medication and unverified patients getting the wrong dosages and medications with similar names, since this is manually checked by these nurses, often late at night after long shifts.

What it does

Our program matches each patient to their dosage and medication with an ID number for a real person to look over and ensure is correct.

How we built it

We built it by splitting into two teams, one for front-end development of a website and one for the back-end Java program that achieves our goal

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a multitude of styling problems which were the most frustrating to deal with since we were very inexperienced with HTML and CSS, and we ran into many issues regarding the functionality of our Java input and output files

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating our first website on our own and using half a semester's worth of CS knowledge to put together our project. Even though two of us are mechanical engineers, we still pulled our weight and created something we can present to you.

What we learned

We learned the basics of HTML and CSS styling, the importance of brainstorming and having a good plan, and the significance of having external criticism to ensure all perspectives are considered.

What's next for MEDGuard

Next for medguard, we want to continue to supply healthcare workers, that put their lives at risk and give their all for us, with more tools using computer science and their struggles
