The Story Behind MedGo

At the start of this semester, I started experiencing sudden and unusual heart symptoms. It felt unpredictable, overwhelming, and I didn’t know how to describe it properly. So I began writing everything down—each symptom, what seemed to trigger it, how long it lasted.

Before our hospital visits,

Reeman Alenezi (Founder) George Washington University: "I simply handed my provider my phone with all the notes. She read through them and immediately asked, “Are you studying medicine?” I told her I’m actually studying international business. That’s when it clicked: If documenting my experience helped that much, what if we built a tool that made it easier for everyone to do the same? That’s how MedGo was born." Willimiah Kakuchie (Co-Founder) University of Virginia: "For years, I felt something was wrong, but every time I tried to explain it, I was told it was normal or in my head. It was exhausting not having the language to describe what I was experiencing just a quiet knowing that my body wasn’t at ease. Without the right words or someone willing to listen, I started to doubt myself, even as the symptoms persisted."

What It Does

MedGo is a mobile-first health companion that helps users track symptoms, log triggers, and generate a clean, print-friendly medical summary in over 120 languages. It's designed to make doctor visits less stressful and more effective—especially for first-time, anxious, or underserved patients.

How We Built It

This being a 24-hour hackathon, we prioritized user experience and clarity over complexity. We built the UI using Canva to visualize the app’s layout and flow. Our goal was to present a strong proof of concept, focusing on storytelling, accessibility, and impact.

Challenges We Ran Into

Time pressure + ambitious goals = minimal sleep

Making something functional and user-centered in under a day

What We Learned

Taking short walks boosts focus dramatically

Simplicity can be powerful when solving real problems

Great ideas often come from personal experiences—and passion fuels execution
