Inspiration
Medical reports often contain complex medical terms that are difficult for patients to understand. We wanted to build a simple AI-powered solution that explains reports in plain language, helping users better understand their health.
What it does
MedExplain AI allows users to upload a medical report (PDF or image). It extracts the text using OCR and uses AI to explain each test result in simple language, highlight abnormal values, and generate an easy-to-read health summary.

The application extracts text from uploaded reports, sends it to the AI model for analysis, and displays a patient-friendly explanation through a simple web interface.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was accurately extracting text from different report formats and generating explanations that are clear, concise, and easy for non-medical users to understand.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate OCR with generative AI, build a healthcare-focused application using Streamlit, and design an intuitive interface that makes medical information more accessible.
What's next
We plan to add support for multiple languages, trend analysis for previous reports, voice assistance, doctor recommendations, and secure cloud storage for medical records.
