Inspiration
Access to basic medicines remains a challenge in many underserved communities, while millions of usable medicines go to waste due to expiry. We wanted to bridge this gap with a simple, accessible tool that combines reminder tech and medicine donation into one app — helping people stay healthy and help others do the same.
What it does
MedEasy:
Sends users reminders to take their medication on time.
Lets users donate unused, unexpired medicines with pickup info.
Allows NGOs to view and claim donations through a separate portal.
Reduces medicine waste while improving access to healthcare.
How we built it
Platform: Built using Bolt (MIT App Inventor) for fast, no-code deployment.
Backend: Google Sheets + optional Firebase for real-time data sync.
Notifications: Integrated with Twilio (SMS) or in-app triggers for reminders.
Design: Clean, mobile-first UI with simple forms and buttons for easy navigation.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up timely reminders with accurate scheduling logic using no-code tools.
Ensuring safe and trackable medicine donations with limited verification steps.
Managing user roles (Patient vs NGO) with clean separation of interfaces.
Optimizing the UX for both tech-savvy and non-tech users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a fully working prototype with both reminder and donation systems in just one sprint.
Designed an intuitive and accessible user interface using only no-code tools.
Addressed two major healthcare gaps — adherence and medicine accessibility — in one app.
Created real-world social impact potential with a simple, scalable solution.
What we learned
How powerful low-code/no-code tools like Bolt can be for rapid social impact prototyping.
Designing for users with limited digital literacy requires thoughtful UX decisions.
Real-world problems don’t always need complex AI — sometimes, simple automation works best.
What's next for MedEasy
What's next for MedEasy Add real-time NGO matching with smart sorting by location and medicine type.
Implement medicine safety checks (AI-powered image verification of expiry).
Launch a pilot program with local clinics and NGOs.
Translate the app into regional languages to improve accessibility across India.
