MedDiab Learn was designed to assist students to go beyond the memorizing of diabetes medications and learn to apply real clinical reasoning. The application demonstrates a systematic patient case in the form of an Electronic Medical record and directs the user to recognize the primary driver of treatment most significant and then chooses a suitable drug group according to a guideline rationale. In case the student chooses the wrong option, the system does not give the answer but poses some questions in a guiding manner that would make them analyze the case again and re-evaluate their arguments. This strategy encourages nurturing the process and enables its users to get familiar with how patient-specific conditions, for example cardiovascular disease, affect their medication preferences. And one of the greatest problems was the translation of medical guidelines into clear logical conditions in the code. The other problem was coming up with guided questions that help in reasoning without specifying the answer as the questions are supposed to be grounded on the datasets which are provided as our resources. During the construction of this project, I got to understand how to encode medical instructions into structured logical conditions through the application of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in designing an interactive learning process.
