How far are we from UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030?
According to a recent report by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the COVID-19 crisis affects some 12 million full-time workers in Europe alone. In a recent statement about the pandemic and its effect on the labor market, ILO Director-General Guy Ryder said, ”Workers and businesses are facing catastrophe, in both developed and developing economies... We have to move fast, decisively, and together. The right, urgent, measures, could make the difference between survival and collapse.”
Healthcare is the fastest-growing sector of the U.S. economy, employing over 18 million workers. (CDC). But despite the anticipated growth, there will be a projected shortage of 18 million health workers needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in low- and lower-middle-income countries, fuelled in part by labour mobility, both within and between nations.
More specifically the Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health: Workforce 2030 reports that shortages can mount up to 9.9 million physicians, nurses and midwives globally by 2030. This reinforces the findings of the WHO/Europe core health indicators suggesting that the number of health workers in the region may not be sufficient to cover the future health needs of an ageing population, despite an increase of health workers in the past decade.
Well the question still remains? How can we reach the UN Goals 2030?

Is it complex to build such a platform? - We don't think so
Two main aspects were considered in building such a platform.
Technical platform: All the wireframes were built in Photoshop and Illustrator. Website was created using Wix.com. Wix provides us with easy options to edit the UI, and also easy integration with the backend using Javascript. Wix is a cloud platform, so it is an easy integration for our developers working from home.
Courses: The choice of courses were very important, as we cannot expect any previous experience. Thereby for starters, the platform would start with Healthcare Assistants, Social caregiver and pharmacy assistant.
How would SwiftLearn impact the current crisis and value after the crisis?
In Europe alone there are about 12 million jobs at risk due to the current crisis. Ironically, the healthcare sector is understaffed and are in desperate need of help. The main motto of SwiftLearn is to reduce the burden on the countries healthcare by providing them with qualified staff.
With the basic course training from SwiftLearn, ordinary people can be converted into medical staff in a fast and efficient way. Thereby SwiftLearn can impact the current COVID-19 crisis.
As per Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health, there would be a shortage of 9.9 million healthcare workers by 2030. SwiftLearn's approach builds a new ecosystem of talent that can shape the path in reaching the UN goals 2030. Even if SwiftLearn trains 100000 a year, then the platform alone can generate 1 million healthcare workers in the next 10 years. SwiftLearn would have more impact after the crisis, as now we realise the importance of having reserve medical staff.
What's next for SwiftLearn
Technical:
The platform is hosted on wix.com. Task 1: The website needs to follow and comply with GDPR. A consent form has to be added to the website during login. Task 2: Different roles are required i.e. separate login to recruit. Task 3: Test page has to be developed Task 4: Auto Generation of Certificates if passed. Task 5: Search filter to find among the candidates. Task 6: Implement a payment method of the clients to pay.
Courses: Task 1: Talking to university hospitals across the EU to design the courses. Task 2 : Exploring all the upskill courses in individual EU countries. Task 3: Prepare a way to test the learners. Task 4: Suggestion of next courses to improve the career.
