Imagine… Your child suddenly falls ill in the middle of the night. You panic. You don’t know what to do. You try searching on Google, but the advice you find doesn’t know your child’s medical history. You ask your neighbors, but their advice, herbal remedies, home treatments, might not be right and could make things worse.
Even if you find a doctor, there’s another problem. In the stress of the moment, you might forget to mention an important detail, an allergy, a past illness, or a medicine your child was taking. But that one detail could change everything. A wrong diagnosis, the wrong medicine… and things could get even worse.
This isn’t just a story. It’s reality. Many people in Morocco face this every day. In our country, everything is still on paper. There’s no system where doctors can quickly see a patient’s medical history. Each time, they have to start from scratch, guessing based on what the patient remembers. But what if the patient forgets? What if the doctor doesn’t have all the facts? These gaps lead to mistakes, dangerous ones.
I’ve seen it. I’ve heard the stories. And it hurts. That’s why we decided to build this platform, to make sure no one has to go through this again.
What it does
Centralized Medical Database
- How It Works: Every citizen’s health data (allergies, diagnoses, treatments) is encrypted and linked to their government-issued Digital ID. Doctors access records via biometric authentication (fingerprint/facial scan) tied to the patient’s ID.
- Why Digital ID? Eliminates duplicate records and ensures doctors always have accurate, nationwide-accessible patient histories, and eliminates the risk of patients forgetting past treatments, medications, or medical procedures.

AI-Powered Emergency Help
- How It Works:
- For patients: MedCore’s AI chatbot acts as a 24/7 symptom checker, cross-referencing Digital ID-linked histories to provide personalized advice.
- For doctors: In critical situations, the AI can be set to scan the Digital ID-linked records and highlight only the most critical information, such as allergies, current medications, and chronic conditions, while ignoring irrelevant details. This allows doctors to quickly access the essential data they need to make urgent decisions, ensuring a faster and more efficient response to emergencies.
- For patients: MedCore’s AI chatbot acts as a 24/7 symptom checker, cross-referencing Digital ID-linked histories to provide personalized advice.
- Why Digital ID? Ensures lifesaving data is available even when patients cannot communicate.

- How It Works: Hospitals update bed/doctor availability in real-time. Patients book appointments via their Digital ID.

How we built it
We are currently in the conceptual phase of MedCore. We’ve developed the idea and mapped out how it could help improve healthcare in Morocco. We’re focused on creating a platform that connects people, doctors, and hospitals, and we’re determined to make it happen.
Challenges we ran into

We have not yet encountered these challenges but expect:
- Technical: Ensuring seamless integration with Morocco’s Digital ID and hospital systems.
- Legal: Balancing emergency data access with compliance to Law 09-08 (data privacy).
- Partnerships: Convincing hospitals to share real-time bed/doctor availability data.

Progress So Far
We are still in the planning phase but have:
- Researched Morocco’s healthcare gaps and Digital ID framework.
- Drafted a system architecture linking Digital ID, AI, and telemedicine.
- Initiated discussions with doctors and medical students to understand the problems.
What's next for MedCore
If selected for implementation, our immediate focus will be:
- Finalizing the prototype design to align with Morocco’s Digital ID infrastructure.
- Securing partnerships with clinics and hospitals for pilot testing.
