Inspiration

Access to healthcare remains a major challenge in Rwanda and Sub-Saharan Africa, where long waiting times, lack of specialist guidance, and inefficient appointment booking systems prevent patients from receiving timely medical care. Many individuals struggle to navigate the healthcare system, often unsure which doctor to consult for their symptoms. Additionally, rural areas face limited access to healthcare facilities, forcing patients to travel long distances for medical attention.

Our inspiration stems from the need to bridge this gap using technology. By integrating AI-powered doctor recommendations, online appointment booking, and remote guidance, we aim to empower patients with instant access to healthcare services. Our solution ensures that public hospitals, private clinics, and individual patients can seamlessly connect with the right medical professionals, reducing inefficiencies and improving health outcomes.

What it does

MedConnect is an AI-powered telemedicine platform that helps users:

  • Receive AI-driven doctor recommendations based on their symptoms.
  • Book online consultations with medical professionals.
  • Access remote guidance for immediate medical advice.
  • Reduce waiting times and streamline the patient-doctor connection.

How we built it

We developed MedConnect using:

  • Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS for an intuitive user interface.
  • Backend: Node.js, Next js, and Prisma for seamless data management.
  • Database: MongoDB for scalable and efficient storage of user data.
  • AI Integration: Machine learning models for symptom analysis and doctor recommendations.
  • Authentication: Auth.js for secure user access.
