Inspiration
We were impressed with the idea of decentralised identity and decentralised storage that web5 offers. We thought of putting this idea in the field of healthcare. People often have to manage multiple identities for the different healthcare centre, they visit. This makes it difficult for doctors to understand the patient medical history and often leads to poor diagnosis of diseases.
We've planned to come up with an uniform platform, providing unique decentralised identity to all the patients. Doctors can access patients data through their ID and add new information to their existing medical records. This makes it easier for patient to manage their medical history and assists doctor to understand patient better in terms of providing best medical treatment.
What it does
- Doctors can create patient and add prescribed medicines and treatment to the platform
- Patient can create their decentralised ID and see their past appointments with Doctors
- Patient can view an global medication table to view all the medication prescribed by different doctors in their visit.
How we built it
- We Used NextJS 14, TailwindCSS to build the frontend of the application.
- We used Web5 to manage patient records, patients and doctors decentralised ID.
Challenges we ran into
- As Web5 is a newer technology, we ran into lots of issue due to misunderstanding of certain underlying concepts
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We managed to build the proposed methodology
What we learned
- We have learned how to interacting with Web5 DWN and understood how CRUD works.
What's next for MedBlock
- We plan to scale this application to cater larger audience and propose to implement this technology in current healthcare system.
