Inspiration
MedAssist was inspired by the need for a streamlined and efficient way to access medical assistance. We recognise that seeking medical help can be a daunting and time-consuming process, and we aim tackle the problem of patient education.
What it does
MedAssist is a web application that connects users with medical professionals and resources. It allows users to search for doctors, schedule appointments, and access medical information and advice. MedAssist also provides a platform for medical professionals to manage their schedules, communicate with patients, and share medical knowledge. There is also the Patient Care Portal which gives insight about the context of patients symptoms and past medical history.
How we built it
MedAssist was built using a range of technologies, including:
- Frontend: React, Pinia, VUE.JS, Nuxt.js
- Backend: Node.js
- APIs: Integration with Gemini API Our development process involved:
- Researching and designing the user interface and user experience
- Developing the frontend and backend components
- Integrating with medical databases and scheduling tools
- Testing and debugging the application
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we faced during development included:
- Ensuring the security and privacy of user data -Integrating AI
- Integrating with existing medical systems and databases
- Balancing the needs of different user groups (patients, doctors) We addressed these challenges by:
- Implementing robust security measures, such as encryption and access controls
- Collaborating with medical professionals and organizations to ensure compatibility and accuracy
- Conducting user testing and feedback sessions to refine the application
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Creating a user-friendly and accessible interface for users of all ages and abilities
- Developing a robust and scalable backend infrastructure
- Integrating with a range of medical databases and scheduling tools
What we learned
- The importance of user-centered design and testing
- The need for robust security and privacy measures in medical applications
- The value of collaboration and feedback in developing effective solutions
