Inspiration

Healthcare access remains a major challenge, with long wait times, fragmented communication between patients and doctors, and lack of centralized medical records. We wanted to build a solution that bridges this gap using modern web technologies and AI to create a seamless healthcare experience.

What We Built

MedAI is a complete healthcare platform that connects patients and doctors through:

• Real-time messaging between patients and their assigned doctors
• Smart appointment system with availability checking and status tracking
• Shared medical records accessible by both patients and healthcare providers
• AI-powered chatbot for immediate health questions and guidance
• Secure authentication with persistent sessions

How We Built It

We built MedAI using React for the frontend with a component-based architecture. The platform features:

• A shared local database service (databaseService.js) that manages users, appointments, messages, and medical records
• Advanced NLP services for intelligent chatbot responses
• Real-time data synchronization between patient and doctor spaces
• Modern UI with intuitive navigation and responsive design

Challenges We Faced

The main challenge was transforming static mockup pages into a fully functional dynamic system. We had to:

• Design a shared database architecture that maintains consistency across different user spaces
• Implement real-time messaging with proper notification systems
• Create a robust appointment system with availability checking
• Ensure data security and proper authentication flows

We gained deep experience in:
