Inspiration: Our inspiration for Medabud stemmed from the desire to create an inclusive health app that caters to individuals of all abilities. We wanted to empower users to take control of their health by providing personalized guidance and recommendations tailored to their unique needs, while ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
What it does: Medabud is a comprehensive health app that calculates users' BMI based on input height, weight, and gender, and provides personalized exercise plans and lifestyle recommendations accordingly. It also incorporates ADA compliance features to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities, making it an inclusive solution for all users.
How we built it: We built Medabud using a combination of programming languages and technologies, including Kotlin in android studios and various frameworks for frontend development like gridle, as well as backend technologies for data processing and storage. We focused on user experience design principles to create an intuitive and accessible interface, while also implementing robust security measures to protect user data.
Challenges we ran into: Throughout the development process, we encountered several challenges, including integrating complex algorithms for BMI calculation and exercise recommendation, ensuring compatibility with different devices and screen sizes, and implementing ADA compliance features to meet accessibility standards. Additionally, managing the project timeline and coordinating tasks among team members posed logistical challenges that required effective communication and collaboration to overcome.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: Despite the challenges we faced, we're proud to have successfully developed Medabud, a user-friendly and inclusive health app that empowers individuals to improve their health and well-being. We're particularly proud of our commitment to accessibility, ensuring that Medabud is accessible to individuals of all abilities.
What we learned: Throughout the development process, we learned valuable lessons about the importance of user-centered design, accessibility considerations, and effective project management. We also gained technical skills in frontend and backend development, as well as experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
What's next for Medabud: Looking ahead, we envision expanding Medabud's features to include additional health metrics and personalized recommendations, integrating wearable device compatibility for seamless tracking, and partnering with healthcare providers to offer enhanced support and resources for users. Additionally, we plan to continue refining Medabud's accessibility features to ensure that it remains inclusive and accessible to all individuals
